ATENTION

Considering Level:

Low I’ve done Snowboard/ ski 10 times in my life.
Medium I can manage all kinds of tracks, steep slops don’t frighten me.
Medium-High I can ride all kinds of trails on my own, on and off piste, I’ve tried off-piste before.
High I often venture off by myself around the mountain and discover new spots, with my board/skis on nothing frightens me; I have knowledge of the snow conditions, avalanches, mountain gear, safety etc.

  ..history

Winter nomads planned its first free riding trip in Las Leñas in 2006. Freeriders Fer and Sebas were able to ride Mercurio guided by Aimar and Diego “It was unbelievable to realize we got four incredible descents, those you never forget, in only one day. One day with them is worth 5 regular ones!” (By Sebas 09/07/06).
Coaches Aimar Valls (Sp) and Diego “Vaca” Lozano (Arg) have plenty of years experiencing the white desert of Las Leñas and even more in high mountains around the world. They descended Marruecos… the Alaskan backcountry… Mont Blanc (Fr)… Monte Rosa (It)… and countless other mountains and resorts around South America, Europe and US.
Aimar and Diego are the kind of friends you need to have if you want to love every second of the whole week… these are two people who have devoted their lives to free riding and love every moment of it!

FACTS ABOUT LAS LEÑAS

- Las Leñas is the nearest resort from Buenos Aires (1000km), and it is situated at the highest level 3000m above sea level. It is also the most fashionable ski resort in Argentina. There is a limited night life in Las Lenas but the UFO and Urban night clubs are excellent for if you are looking for a great night out on the town.
- The hotels and apartments are situated right at the base of the mountain. The population consists mainly of skiers and snowboarders, as the nearest town is quite far away.
- La Leñas is the spot chosen by freeriders that come to South America. Everyone wants to conquer its terrain!!!
- Off-piste rescues are very expensive, so is very important to be precautious and insured.
- It is necessary to carry all safety gear when adventuring outside the resort. (transceivers, probes, shovel, are a necessity)
- Not far away we can find the Abandoned Thermal pools in Los Molles, ideal to spend a relaxing afternoon and why not drink a few bears!
- Eduardo, Sans Nom, C. Torrecillas, C. Entrerios, C. Martin, Bananas, Frankye, Las Vegas and Manhattan are some of the best trails.
- If you want to hire a Photographer and Video Taping/Editing service for your adventure you can contact www.getthemoment.com
- Consider good weather and great snow conditions! (If the snow is icy or if it is too windy, there is no freeride!)
- To get to the most spectacular freeriding experience, there is a 4 hour hike (at good pace) available for the more adventurous; if you are not up for the challenge you can book a Heli-ski program.
